課程概述 |
This course provides as the first exposure to a rational integration of traditional design methodologies with concepts and techniques of modern optimization theory and practice. "Design" is defined in a broad context and students from diverse disciplines, including outside engineering, can benefit from the course. |

課程目標 |
1, form objective functions and constraints of a given engineering problem.
2, build optimization models
3, solve with appropriate algorithms
4, explain the results with engineering justifications. |

課程要求 |
Each student select two academic articles and report on key findings.
1, The first article focuses on the application of optimization techniques in various domains. Students are expected to provide research insights on the formulation of the problem.
2, The second article focuses on advanced optimization algorithms. Key findings such as the foundation and the mathematical convergence of the algorithm should all be discussed. |
